Facing the loss of my father inspired a deeply personal journey that led to the creation of my book, “Faith I Thrive.” This episode unfolds the emotional layers of celebrating that milestone without him, emphasizing how intuitive guidance can turn grief into purpose. By listening to our inner voice, often seen as a whisper from a higher power, we can offer vital support to those in need. Alongside this, I discuss the importance of self-reward after achieving significant goals, as it helps us connect hard work with joy and fulfillment.
Moreover, a touching story of a young student’s unexpected act of kindness during a moment of grief serves as a testament to the profound impact of simple gestures. Through this encounter, we explore how small acts of compassion can renew our faith in humanity, forging connections with strangers across all walks of life. This narrative encourages us to reflect on those who have lifted our spirits and challenges us to spread kindness and joy in everyday interactions. Embracing our shared humanity can transform the world into a more compassionate place, where even a smile or a gentle word can change someone’s day. Join me, Sylvia Worsham, as we explore these profound themes of purpose, grief, and joy.

If you’ve ever struggled with fear, doubt or worry and wondering what your true purpose was all about, then this podcast is for you. In this show, your host, sylvia Worsham, will interview elite experts and ordinary people that have created extraordinary lives. So here’s your host, sylvia Worsham.
Speaker 2:
Hey, lightbringers, it’s Sylvia Worsham. Welcome to Released Out Revealed Purpose In this episode. I’m going to be talking about spreading joy and happiness, especially when you see another human having a harder day than yours. If you feel the pull or feel compelled to help. Listen to that inner voice, to that intuition or some people think it’s the guardian angels whispering in people’s ears. I believe in all of it. I believe that all of us are interconnected, that we are interconnected because we have God inside of us and if you’re believers of Christ and you have Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit in you, and the Holy Spirit will guide and prompt you. And several days before, in Faith I Thrive, my best-selling book that, released in September of this year, was launched on Amazon. That released in September of this year, was launched on Amazon.
Speaker 2:
I found myself having my meals done. It was my reward for having completed this project, this passion project I’d had for years. I always wanted to work with Asula Press and with a publishing house and I made my dream come true, and it was days away from its completion. And so, as part of my reward system, my nails were something I always kind of use as a reward system. So take note when you’re working on projects, passion projects, any kind of goal that has taken a lot of time and energy from you or not really taken it away, but you used a lot of it right. You always want to reward yourself because the way that your mind will remember it will associate something good with something that takes you a long time to achieve. So always remember that about goal setting always have your reward set up.
Speaker 2:
So there I was in Triangle Nails in Lamar in Austin and was getting my nails done and I had a cheeseburger and I was having my father’s favorite meal and, as you guys know, my father passed away, or rather graduated into heaven, on Father’s Day this year. And so here it is. It was September 18thth or something and tears were like rolling down my face, like steadily and continuously, and I’m trying to keep it under wraps, I don’t want to bother anybody, but the emotion’s hitting me, really lifting, and it was going to be the very first time I would not be able to call and tell my dad the exciting news that my book was going to launch.
Speaker 2:
Mind you, it’s a book that I dedicated to my dad, and so there’s that personal connection right that I have with it, and on top of that is someone I’ve adored my whole life and I can’t share this special moment with him and it’s and it’s now come complete. I’m in full awareness of this now, and, for those going through a grief journey, you know that it goes in stages and sometimes those stages get jumbled up. There are days that you feel angry, there are days that you’re in denial, and I think up until that moment, I had been in denial. I’m sitting there eating his very favorite food in the whole world. My father used to always eat a hamburger every Friday, and it was a Friday to top it off.
Speaker 2:
So I was really struggling and this girl, this young African American, the most beautiful girl I can still close my eyes and see her beautiful big brown eyes was looking at me and I, you know, I lowered my head because I was embarrassed that I was bothering people. I mean, they were there to enjoy themselves and here I was like bawling, and not loudly, I was just. You could see it on my face, you could see it on my body. It on my face. You could see it on my body and and then later and my nail technician, vivian, told me that everybody could see me on camera like all the people there knew that I was crying and it was just a really hard day for me.
Speaker 2:
And so this girl, I like keep eating my burger and I you know, keep trying to not make eye contact with people and all of a sudden I look up and she’s standing right next to me and she said I just want you to know that your nails are paid. I’ve paid for your nails today because I wanted to brighten your day. Why this is important in the world that we live in today. She knew nothing of me. I am this white woman who is just sobbing but this is what people can look at from the outside. But we were two women, regardless of our culture, regardless of our ethnicity, our religious or political backgrounds backgrounds she felt connected to me and wanted to brighten my day. A total stranger to me and she and I was a total stranger to her. But she felt a connection with me, an emotional connection. Did the Holy Spirit whisper prompting to her? Did she lean in and listen and say I feel the need to brighten this woman’s day? And then I told her. I said why? First of all, I asked, I said but aren’t you a student? And she said, yes, I am, I’m a student here in austin. I go, but these nails are really expensive, like I’m getting designers. She goes, it doesn’t matter, it’s been paid for and I just want you. I just I want to brighten your day.
Speaker 2:
How can that not brighten my day? Of course it’s going to brighten my day and I smiled a big smile. I had to smile the whole day and I that’s why I just want to thank you. I said because you have renewed my faith in humanity. I I want you to know what what this means to me. Uh, today’s the first day. I’m really missing my dad. My dad passed away this year and I’m in a really tough spot. So I appreciate your kindness and the love that you’re sharing with me. I know you don’t know me and I promise you that your example is going to be shared on my social media sites and I’m going to pay it forward. Guys, I want you to know that in the world, we are all connected to our heart and soul through God.
Speaker 2:
That’s how we’re connected it doesn’t matter what backgrounds we have, what our views are. If we listen and we love one another the way he loves us, our world would be so much brighter. It would be a more beautiful place to live.
Speaker 2:
So I want you to reflect today on examples when your faith in humanity has been renewed because of the action of another human being in your life. What did they do for you? You don’t have to do something big, it doesn’t have to be a big suggestion. It could be a smile on a hard day, it could have been a phone call. It could have been a card you got in the mail. Those are the best, aren’t they? I know I want to be that person. I want to leave a legacy of love behind. I want people to remember me as someone who cares about everyone regardless, regardless of what you believe in or regardless of who you vote for, regardless of what your color is, or regardless of what you vote for, regardless of what your color is or regardless of what your cultural identity is. I’m going to love you because he loved me and I didn’t deserve it, and he forgave those people that betrayed him. So what’s my excuse?
Speaker 1:
What’s my?
Speaker 2:
excuse for being a cruel or unforgiving human being. There’s no excuse. So if this young girl take her example and spread that example like wildfire in our on earth, and you see, you’ll see more happiness, more joy. Be a light bringer, bring your special kind of light to this world. Do it every day, do it on purpose. Pick, pick a charity. Devote your time to charities. Smile like complete strangers. Talk to people when you’re walking your dog. You never know what that’s gonna do for someone. You don’t know if they’re contemplating suicide or they don’t feel loved, and your smile renews their faith that people do love them and it reminds them of the beautiful people that they are. You don’t know. You don’t know. Guys, take some time during this season of Christmas and really think about how we can spread more love and happiness and joy on earth. Have a wonderful week. I’m Sylvia Wershen. Thank you so much for tuning in to this episode of Spreading Joy and Happiness. Have a wonderful week, stay safe, love you.
